KINGSTON, N.Y. -- The Kingston Neighborhood Watch Association held its first ever Community Safety Walk on Thursday.

Participants dressed in matching neon colored t shirts to demonstrate their unity.

Organizers say they're trying to bring people together in order to prevent gang activities, which they say they fear could spread from the City of Newburgh.

"Certain activities that are not safe are really not welcome and that there are many eyes watching and that we are banding together as a community to look out for each other and certain things are not going to be as easily accessible in the City of Kingston," said Claudia D'Arcy.

Neighborhood Watch members say they'll never carry weapons of any sort while they are patrolling.
