Gym members rally to help support animal shelter
Dogs and dumbbells don't have much in common. Nor do cats and abdominal crunches. But as Christian Farrell reports, one local health club somehow has been able to tie the two together for a good cause.

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- Members of Gold's Gym in Middletown most certainly have a lot of energy. In addition though to working out and staying fit, there's something else a lot of them have in common.
"We're all pet lovers," said Darci Madden.
Darci Madden is the gym's social media director. And according to Madden, it's that love for animals that has prompted the gym to hold its first ever fundraiser for animals.
The Gold's Gym Family Field Day event takes place this Saturday to benefit Pets Alive. Pets Alive is one of the oldest and largest no-kill animal rescue shelters in the country, located on 80 acres just across town.
"We're able to save over 2,000 animals per year with the support of our local community and animal lovers at large and we're so, so grateful for that," said Marcy Rydd of Pets Alive.
Now you don't have to be a Gold's Gym member to participate in Saturday's fundraiser. The event is open to the public. People are invited to bring their kids, bring their pets, if they have one, and even to bring their workout clothes.
"Outside our main events are going to be, at 10 o'clock where going to have a pet walk with Paula, 11 'till 12:30 we're going to have Zumba with Juan, a 'zumbathon,'" said Madden.
A "zumbathon" looks something like this.
"A lot of people are looking forward to bringing their pet so people can come in and see their pet. I really think it's going to be a fantastic day!" said Madden.
A day set aside, as gym member Paula Sisilli says, to help these guys.
"They can't care for themselves, so we have to help them," said Sisilli.
