ARMONK, N.Y. -- IBM announces a new program that could save local governments a lot of money.

The software company is developing a Municipal Shared Services Cloud which would help local governments share internal information on a nationwide scale.

This would be especially important to communities considering government consolidation or shared services.

The program also aims to help local governments become more transparent, setting up a website where residents can easily look up information about their government.
