ULSTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- If you spotted Santa soaring over the Ulster County skies, you weren't seeing things. Santa Claus parachuted out of a Cessna airplane to drop in and kick-off this Christmas season in Clintondale.

Hundreds of anxious sky-watchers welcomed a skydiving St. Nick accompanied by a quartet of earth-bound elves. The celebration was a collaboration between the local Hurd's Family Farm and the neighboring Skydiving Ranch.

Santa arrived well-prepared with a sack full of presents for the excited kids, but the big question on everyone's lips was what happened to Santa's Sleigh?

"Santa's sleigh is in the shop so he decided to borrow a Cessna from the local skydive the Ranch, and he will be parachuting in today,” said Charles Hurd, Hurd's Family Farm chief elf.

"Man, my sleigh's in the shop, it wasn't ready yet, gotta get things ready for Christmas, so I figured, y'know you come in like this, it's something good for the kids and it's a nice way to get into a tree farm like this,” said Santa.

Santa's sack full of Christmas goodies were gobbled up quickly by the kids, while host Hurd's Family Farm provided refreshments for the parents.
