WOODSTOCK, N.Y. -- The cow who managed to make a run for it while on her way to a slaughterhouse in Pennsylvania now has a new place to call home.

On Monday, Kayli the cow arrived at the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. Last month, the cow ran through the streets of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania for almost an hour until police were able to capture her.

Luckily, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett pardoned the cow and sent her on her way to her new home in Woodstock.

One activist says she hopes Kayli's story will open people's eyes to what animals go through.

"As she was being unloaded, she made a break for it and for her life, which is evidence she had the will to live. She is an individual, that is part of what we try to do here. We try to show and educate people about the plight of farm animals and allow them to interact with the animals they basically only know as food," said Jenny Brown, Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary Co-Founder and Director.

The non-profit organization provides shelter to cows, pigs, sheep and other rescued farm animals
