Rosendale Theatre Collective competing for grant

ROSENDALE, N.Y. -- The Rosendale Theatre Collective is a finalist in the Pepsi Refresh contest.
The group is trying to win a grant toward purchasing the historic Rosendale Movie Theatre.
The collective formed in October 2009 and has already raised about half the $160,000 they need to secure the mortgage. Their goal is to expand the theatre beyond just showing movies to also hosting live music, theatre and dance performances.
Fundraising Co-Chair Eve Waltermaurer said, "We want to have that same wonderful feel that the theatre has had but also enhance the programming, maybe clean up the paint a little bit, maybe move to DVD projection. But all of those things, the important part is we want to keep the Rosendale Theatre like it is now."
In order to win the Pepsi Refresh grant, the group has to be one of the top vote-getters in the online poll. Voting is open now and continues through the end of April.
