NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Some local environmental groups are hoping a new exhibit will help convince New York City residents to get in on the hydrofracking debate.
Catskill Mountainkeeper and Damascus Citizens for Sustainability are participating in an anti-fracking exhibit called "Landcsapes of Extraction."
The multi-media installation opened at Grand Central Terminal Thursday, featuring photos by artist J. Henry Fair.
It's part of an Earth Day event to show commuters details of the gas extraction process and what the groups say are its harmful effects.
Catskill Mountainkeeper Executive Director Ramsay Adams said, "There is no ban in New York City's watershed, there's just a request from Bloomberg that they not drill in the watershed. So New York City is under threat. Fracking poses a great danger to New York City and this is obviously a very public place and Henry's photographs are brilliant."
The Landscapes of Extraction exhibit runs through Saturday.
