Severe weather has pelted much of our area from the Berkshires all the way to Columbia County. In Copake, trained weather spotters say the saw a tornado touchdown. Our Madeleine Rivera has more.
UNITED STATES -- Tuesday was a wild day for weather from the Berkshires all the way to Columbia County.
In Copake, trained weather spotters saw a tornado touch down a little before 5 p.m. There were a few road closures because of downed lines and fallen trees.
One man from Copake actually took a photo at the time he says he saw not one, but two tornadoes touchdown. He took this photo around 4:50 p.m. Tuesday. He says he actually drove through the storm as he was heading home.
Keith Perrino said, “I thought about pulling over for a second, then another tree branch flew by me. Figured that wasn't such a good idea. I just closed my sun roof so the hail wouldn't break the glass.”
The National Weather Service will arrive in Copake this week to confirm if a tornado did in fact touchdown.
