GOSHEN, N.Y. -- Speaking in a courtroom Monday, Michael Mele described how he suffocated 25-year-old Laura Garza. He told the prosecution he put his hand over her mouth and nose to stop her from yelling.
But his written word, now released in court documents, paints the picture of his sexually deviant past.
Mele is a convicted sex offender, previously pleading guilty to exposing himself at the Palisades Mall.
Dozens of photos of women in public and parking lots were found on his camera. The prosecution wrote the photos are taken of them from behind and without them knowing. The documents said the camera was left in a car Mele reports stolen just a month before Garza disappears.
In his "autobiography," the convicted sex-offender writes, "...I would usually masturbate to the images I would take later on in the private of my own bedroom, but I decided now to take it a step further and get the enjoyment right there and then."
Other court documents outline an aggressive nature. A girlfriend alleges he grabbed her firmly around throat during sex, making her feel "scared and uncomfortable." Another, according to the memo, said she had to repeatedly tell him to get off of her.
Judge Nicholas De Rosa ruled these documents were not relevant to the murder trial and his clerk said were not going to be allowed in court.
But Mele pleads guilty to manslaughter and tampering with evidence before any evidence is able to be presented.
His attorneys said he'll be released from prison by the time he's about 46.
