LOCH SHELDRAKE, N.Y. -- The roof ripped off a Loch Sheldrake trailer home, windows blown out , and vinyl siding melted. Police say all the damage was all caused by Richard Honaker. The South Fallsburg resident has just been arrested and charged with arson and burglary.
The home is located near the intersection of Levine and Labaugh Roads and went up in flames early December.
"The building was a single wide trailer that did burn. Loch Sheldrake fire department did respond, as well as the Sullivan county bureau of fire," said South Fallsburg Police Detective Travis Hartman.
Police say the 22-year-old man walked inside the house, poured gasoline on a couch, and then lit the place on fire.
There were no injuries and area residents that spoke with us say the home has been vacant for years.
"People do it for different reasons. We’re still looking into the reason why he did do that," said Hartman.
Honaker is facing two felony counts in the case. He's being held at the Sullivan County Jail on more than $12,000 cash bail. Honaker is due back in court Monday afternoon.
