AMSTERDAM, N.Y. -- The recovery effort continues today for a missing teen. Eduardo Figueraro, 19, was last seen swimming Tuesday at Lock 11 in Amsterdam. Witnesses told police he went under the water and never resurfaced.
Crews are calling it a recovery effort at this time, with 25 to 30 divers still searching.
"We'd like to keep the divers fresh, so that we'll put a couple divers in at a time. They'll stay down for about 20 minute shifts, then more divers go back in, just because the visibility has been reduced with all the rain that we've had last night and there are some currents today," said Lt. Det. Kurt Conroy, Amsterdam Police.
Police say the area is closed off to the public, and that it is an area people shouldn't try to swim in.
