HUDSON VALLEY, N.Y. -- Representative Nan Hayworth's spokesperson has apologized for a comment he made on his Facebook page.
GOP Consultant Jay Townsend released a statement, on the site, saying he "Posted a stupid, thoughtless, and insensitive comment on a Facebook page. It was stupid, because my words were easily misconstrued,” and continued on by saying they were "insensitive because some have interpreted the comment as advocating a violent act."
The initial comment made saying "Let's hurl some acid at those female democratic senators who won't abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector" has since been removed from Facebook.
One of Hayworth's challengers, Rich Becker, wants the congresswoman to fire Townsend.
