MAYFIELD, N.Y. -- A landlord discovered over 30 dead and sick animals at a home in Mayfield while evicting a tenant.

When Joseph Adamkoski went to the property on Tuesday to remove Tirzah Henry's belongings after he says she failed to pay rent for four months, he says he found four to five dead dogs, along with cats and rabbits throughout the house. The house was covered in dog feces and it appeared that the animals had destroyed areas of the home.
Henry says she did not abuse her dogs and that they died Monday night when she was not at her home.

"You walk in there, you'll see $5,000 to $7,000 worth of damage through the house. The dog ate the bottom of the door off, ate holes in the bottom of the sheet rock. There was a pen next to the garage. The dog was eating the fiberglass insulation, ripped the wall right through," Adamkoski said.

"The animals are in a safe spot now. Some of them are seeking vet care from whatever happened during the night. They're at the animal hospital. Others are in a safe shelter," Hendy said.

There is no word yet if any charges have been filed against Henry.
