MONTICELLO, N.Y. -- Monticello Mayor Gordon Jenkins has been arrested.
Jenkins has not confirmed what he was arrested for, but tells YNN that he and his attorney plan to release a statement in the coming day to clear up the details of the incident.
The Times Herald Record is reporting that Jenkins punched a man inside his store and also hit a police officer.
This isn’t the first time that Jenkins has been in trouble with the law. Jenkins was arrested in February of 2010, accused of selling counterfeit items like fake Nike sneakers and Timberland boots, out of the store he owns on Broadway in Monticello. He ended up pleading guilty to trademark counterfeiting in April of 2011, taking that plea deal allowed Jenkins to avoid felony charges that would have forced him out of office. He paid about $2,500 in fines as well.
