WATERVLIET, N.Y. -- Once again Thursday night, the Watervliet City Council will discuss what to do with the vacant Saint Patrick's Church.

Nigro Companies is hoping to get the block the church stands on now rezoned for commercial use, to allow for the demolition of the church and the building of a new Price Chopper and other retail space.

Area residents want to preserve the 100-year-old building.

Mayor Mike Manning said no decision will be made Thursday night, but they will present the developers with a list of concerns. Nigro will then have the opportunity to address those concerns.

Mayor Manning also said there will be no deadline for Nigro's rebuttal.
