HUDSON VALLEY, N.Y. -- Metro North is making its biggest expansion since the railroad's inception in 1983.

Officials say an additional 230 trains will be available for commuters and 73 of those will be on the Hudson line.

Most of the new trains will run on the weekends and in the off peak hours.

The Hudson line is getting 11 new weekday trains, 12 new Saturday trains and 6 new Sunday trains. Those changes begin in April 2013.

Metro North says in 2012, they had the most riders ever, totaling nearly 85 million.
