DEERPARK, N.Y. -- A woman is dead after falling off a rock ledge in the Town of Deerpark.

State police said it happened early Friday morning along Hawk's Next on State Route 97. They said Dominique Sylvestry was sitting on the ledge and fell backwards falling approximately 50 feet before hitting her head.

The City of Port Jervis and Sparrowbush Fire Departments assisted with the recovery.
