NEW YORK STATE -- Paul Ryan's budget plan is immediately making waves in local politics.
The 19th Congressional District Challenger Julian Schreibman is criticizing incumbent Chris Gibson for voting for Ryan's plan, which involves a complete overhaul of Medicare. The democratic challenger contends Gibson only began voting for a different proposal when redistricting created a tougher reelection battle for him.
The newly drawn 19th district includes all of Ulster, Greene, Delaware, Columbia, Sullivan, Otsego and Sullivan counties, as well as parts of others.
Here's Schreibman's full statement: "Congressman Gibson has never expressed any doubt about his support for Ryan’s plan to dismantle Medicare. In fact, he has gone on the record saying that he would consider a Medicare coupon program and his campaign website continues to celebrate his 2011 vote for the Ryan budget.”
