KINGSTON, N.Y. -- One of the top 10 greatest streets in the U.S. can be found in Kingston. The American Planning Association is honoring Wall Street as one of 10 Great Streets for 2012, under the organization’s Great Places in America program.

The organization highlighted an eight-block stretch of Wall Street, between Franklin and North Front streets, which consists of bluestone sidewalks, gardens, eateries, historic churches and more.

The mayor of Kingston says he is honored to have the city recognized, and he's very pleased to accept the award.

"It recognizes Kingston's streetscape, its blue stone, historical pride, as well as the architecture. Which is really a drawl for people to want to come in, for tourism. Also, to move into a community," said Mayor Shayne Gallo.

Another nod to Wall Street's unique history: New York’s first state constitution was also written at the courthouse located on Wall Street.
