QUEENS, N.Y. -- Jason Bay and the New York Mets are parting ways. New York decided to buy out the remainder of Bay's contract on Wednesday which makes the outfielder the newest free agent on the market.

The announcement comes after three injury plagued seasons for Bay in the Big Apple after signing a four year $66 million contract in 2010.

The three time All-Star never quite got it going in New York hitting just .234 with 26 homeruns in three seasons with the Mets.
