CAPITAL REGION -- War stories from our veterans are often harrowing, humbling, and even humorous. Now, many are being recorded for safe keeping as part of the Veterans History Project.

More than 80,000 artifacts and personal accounts fill the Library of Congress, and now project supporters in the Capital Region are encouraging more local veterans to contribute. Members of the Stratton VA Hospital and Congressman Paul Tonko are behind the renewed push.

"When I look back on it, I have no regrets. And, of course we had bad experiences and good experiences, but the thing was that we liked what we were doing and it was an honor to serve our country," said Ken Hunter, Veterans History Project Contributor.

June Hunter, another contributor, added, "We also interview the women veterans, and they have a story as well. Everyone has a story and they'll say 'Oh, I haven't done anything', and we get the story from them and we find something that they did that maybe no one else has."
