Utility company warns of imposters

By: Web Staff

HUDSON VALLEY -- Central Hudson is warning its customers about people posing as utility employees to gain entrance to homes. New York State Police and Ulster County Sheriff's deputies say three men have been posing as Central Hudson employees to commit burglaries.

The men have been dressed in safety vests and driving a silver pick-up truck with a yellow light on the roof. They have been claiming to be changing electric meters.

Officials said the men have visited at least three homes in Kerhonkson and Stone Ridge, and have committed at least two burglaries. Central Hudson wants to remind customers that its employees always carry identification and will display it if you ask. Customers with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact police or call Central Hudson directly at (845) 452-2700.
