Services announced for Peekskill officer killed in off-duty crash
PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Calling hours are set for the Peekskill police officer who died in an off-duty crash on Route 17 in Goshen Sunday night.

A wake will be held for Officer Julian Hermosillo at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home in Peekskill from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday. The California native will then be laid to rest on Friday at the U.S. National Military Cemetery in San Diego.

Hermosillo died on Sunday night after losing control of his Jeep on Route 17. Police said the Jeep crossed over the guard rail into the oncoming lane, crushing another car. A 90-year-old Oneonta passenger in the other vehicle also died. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

A veteran of Afghanistan, Hermosillo is survived by his mother and sister.
