SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- What's Thanksgiving without the pie? One group is working to make sure the tasty staple is on every menu this year.

Volunteers and students at Schenectady County Community College are working on their annual "Easy as Pie" Project. Around 500 pies are baked in the college's kitchen and given to people in need.

"We give to the children's shelter. Battered women's shelter. A lot of local charities, people in need. This year is the first year where people from the flood from last year, Schoharie, Schenectady counties, people have asked for extra help," said Robert Payne, SCCC Culinary Arts Instructor.

This is the 12th year of the program. They're planning on giving some of the pies to people who are still recovering from last year's Irene damage.
