ALBANY, N.Y. -- Dozens of eager shoppers skipped the turkey on Thanksgiving and instead, hit the stores, hoping to catch the best deals in town.

People lined up for the midnight opening of Best Buy in Albany. For many of them, this year's holiday celebration consisted of standing outside in brisk temperatures, in line to cash in on some mega deals.

"It was just the two of us and then we met these two, who were sitting next to us and they had this and now we're having a party," Jamie Seaton said.

"It just becomes a tradition. It started out with getting items you couldn't get if you weren't here and then you end up saving money and it becomes fun," said Naomi Doyle.

Many stores in the area are participating in the Black Friday fun, some even opening on Thanksgiving Day.
