HUDSON VALLEY, N.Y. -- The New York Archdiocese is again telling some local schools they may have to close due to money shortages.

At risk schools include St. Joseph's in Kingston, St. Joseph's in Milbrook, Sacred Heart in Newburgh, St. Mary of the Snow in Saugerties and Regina Coeli in Hyde Park.

St. Joseph's in Kingston avoided closing in 2011 when many other schools closed for the same reason. Officials there say enrollment is up 34 percent since then.

"Totally surprised because we felt the progress we had made since the last time we were in New York two years ago was just outstanding, the enrollment was up significantly," said Paul Delisio, St. Joseph’s Kingston Finance Chairman.

The Archdiocese says a final decision will be made by January.
