POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Brian Giorgis is currently in his 11th season leading the Marist women's basketball program and it looks like he's going to be on the bench a little while longer.
On Wednesday, Marist announced that Giorgis signed a contract extension keeping him in Poughkeepsie through 2021.
His numbers definitely back up their decision. Giorgis is 255-77 so far at Marist. The Red Foxes are nine time defending MAAC champs and have made 8 NCAA tournament appearances, including seven in a row.
Marist Director of Athletics Tim Murray released this statement which said, "Brian has established our program as a consistent Top-40 team in the country... I'm thrilled with the idea of him spending his entire collegiate coaching career here at Marist. He's a special coach, and a special person. And I am excited that he will provide the Hudson River Valley excellent women's college basketball for many years."
The Red Foxes are 4-4 so far this season and are getting ready to host Boston University on Saturday.
