MARLBORO, N.Y. -- A memorial will be held at 6 p.m. for the teen killed Saturday in a car crash in Marlboro.
Sarah Smith was a 16-year-old sophomore at Marlboro Central High School. She died when the car she was riding in crashed into a telephone pole on Western Avenue near Albertson Road.
Police said there were no signs of alcohol or drugs in relation to the crash. Another passenger was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Tonight's memorial will take place at Saint Mary's Church on Grand Street. Family and friends are invited to attend. A mass will be held at the same church Friday at 11 a.m.
Smith's family will set up a scholarship fund in her memory and ask for all donations to go there.
