DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Dutchess County Legislature will vote today on their proposed 2013 budget.

The budget includes the elimination of 103 jobs. 96 of those jobs are currently vacant, and seven people will be laid off. This comes in addition to the 79 workers who took a $20,000 incentive to retire early.

The county also plans to cap the amount of sales tax they give to local municipalities. This puts more of a burden on places like Poughkeepsie and Beacon, cities which have considered changing sanitation and garbage policies.

Chairman Rob Rolison says nothing in the budget relates to the building of a Dutchess County Jail. That money, he says, will come from a separate capital bond expense which is to be determined.

County Executive Marc Molinaro is expected to lay out options for a jail by mid-2013.
