ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. -- The future of the Valley View nursing home still remains up in the air.

A vote to keep the facility open for two years was defeated 11 to 10 at Thursday night's Orange County budget meeting.

This vote comes just one month after the legislators decided to amend the budget proposal to keep the facility open for 2013.

Next week, these same legislators will be voting on County executive Ed Diana's proposed 2013 budget.

In September, Diana proposed shutting down the facility, calling it a financial drain. He also said there were offers from outside companies to purchase the property and privatize the nursing home.

It's not clear what Diana's budget will specifically include for Valley View's future.
