NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -- The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is calling a report about its upcoming fare hike plan premature.

The New York Daily News reports the agency's final fare hike package will lower the minimum for getting a discount to five dollars from the current ten. The bonus is expected to be trimmed to five percent from seven percent.

The Daily News also says the base fare will likely go up from $2.25 to $2.50. Seven day cards would go from $29 to $30 and 30 day cards would rise from $104 to $112.

The MTA says its board is still considering the structure of its fare and toll increases and does not plan to vote on them until December 19th.
