NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- Unemployed residents in the City of Newburgh are being encouraged to apply for jobs to help communities still recovering from Superstorm Sandy.

Governor Cuomo says New York State has partnered with FEMA to start a hiring program which would replace existing FEMA employees. Typically, those employees are brought in from out of state.

Although temporary, the jobs are full time and will include cleaning and repairing damaged property.

In addition to offering benefits and on-the-job experience, each worker will be given assistance in finding their next job.
