State Trooper saves two lives in one day

ULSTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A State Trooper saved two lives in one day.

According to State Police, both incidents happened Thursday in Ulster County. They say Trooper Gregory Plitsch of the Highland barracks first went to check on man who would not answer his phone. According to police, a Highland woman suspected her husband was having a diabetic emergency when she couldn't get hold of him.

Police say Trooper Plitsch arrived at the home, found the door unlocked and when no one responded, he went in and saw the man was on the floor, not breathing. That is when Plitsch began CPR. Medics arrived shortly afterwards and determined the man had a very low blood sugar. He was then taken transported to Vassar Brothers Hospital for treatment.

This was the second time that day Trooper Plitsch responded to a call where lifesaving measures were needed. Earlier Thursday morning, he helped save the life of a 21-year-old man in Gardiner.
