Man arrested after trying to break into Saugerties home

SAUGERTIES, N.Y. -- A Saugerties man is behind bars after police say he tried to break into a home in the Village of Saugerties.

According to Saugerties Police, Miguel Hernandez, 28, tried to break into a house on Montgomery Street but was stopped when the resident fought him off. Police say the female resident managed to hit Hernandez several times in the face and made his nose bleed. She was not injured in the fight.

Police say when they got to the scene, Hernandez was apparently drunk and also dazed from the fight.

Hernandez has been charged with attempted burglary and was taken to Ulster County Jail.
