WARWICK, N.Y. -- A fire broke out at a historic building in Orange County. It happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday at the town hall in Warwick.

The mayor was out decorating for the holidays when he spotted smoke coming from the lower left column of the building. He says the conference room was also filled with smoke and that is when he immediately evacuated the building and called the fire department.

"This historic building would not be with us. I'm glad we found it early and were able to contain it and we dealt with it immediately," said Mayor Michael Newhard.

There are no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The town hall is expected to reopen Thursday.
