JC Club gives dessert and toys to children on Christmas

Kids received dessert and toys at the JC Club in Albany. It's all thanks to the Victory Christian Church. YNN's Madeleine Rivera was there and has more on the annual giveaway.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- "I had three pieces of pie. I'm pretty good," said a young boy at the JC Club on Christmas Day.

Every year, the JC Club at the Victory Church delivers Christmas goodies to kids in the neighborhood.

"Some of these kids might not get a whole lot for Christmas and we want to make sure that they get a Christmas where they say, wow, someone really does care," said Pastor Charlie Muller of the Victory Christian Church.

Pastor Muller has been the driving force behind this event for 15 years. He says this year was busier than recent ones.

"The economy is really tight right now," he said.

Making events like this one much more appreciated in the community.

"There's not too many people out here that are willing to give anything away at this hard economic time. We really appreciate everything he does for our family and everyone in the community," said Brandon Stanfield, a parent.

But Muller says the community has also been a big help, from the pies which were donated by Grandma's Pies in Albany to a tractor trailer full of donated toys.

"I just believe they've caught the spirit of generosity, the spirit of giving, because that's what this church has been doing for years and we just try to get others to do what we do," he said.

Muller says the church has also donated toys to other organizations in the Capital Region and beyond.
