Poughkeepsie police warning of phone scam
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Poughkeepsie Police are warning residents about a phone scam.
Police say the caller tells the victim that a family member or friend has been kidnapped and money must be sent in order for a safe return.
According to police, the call comes from the number (347) 891-1626. The caller insists the money be sent via Western Union or Money Gram and keeps the victim on the phone until the money is transferred.
