DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Catskill couple are the proud parents to Dutchess County's first born baby of the New Year.

Lucy Bohnsack gave birth at 12:26 a.m. to a seven pound, nine ounce little girl at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.

The newborn was two weeks overdue, which resulted in an induced Cesarean Section labor early Tuesday morning.

Besides an incident where the infant's heart rate dropped, the birth was uneventful and the baby is healthy.

Both mother and father are overjoyed and excited that their offspring will forever bear the title of Dutchess County's first born in 2013.

"I think it's exciting. She was supposed to be born before Christmas and everybody was saying don't have her on Christmas and she kind of got away from that stigma and now she has a new title," mother Lucy Bohnsack said.

"Really good actually, little excited, didn't expect it. I expected her two weeks ago, so it's kind of interesting," father Ben Matthews said.

The couple hasn't decided on a name for their little one, but are both leaning towards "Olive."
