GOSHEN, N.Y. -- With so much attention on reducing gun violence, Orange County is starting its newest gun buy-back program earlier than planned. It will run from Friday through March 18th.
Participants can receive up to $150 in ShopRite gift certificates. Guns must be delivered unloaded, inside a clear plastic bag, and in a trunk if you're driving.
With gun crimes on the rise in Newburgh, police there look forward to the public's help in getting guns off the streets.
Guns can be turned in 24 hours a day, seven days a week through March 18th to police departments in Port Jervis, Newburgh, and Middletown. The Orange County Sheriff’s office is also participating.
