Houses evacuated during gas leak
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. — A number of houses were evacuated for hours following a gas leak in New Paltz. It happened around 11 a.m. Saturday at Route 32 and Mulberry Street.

Fire officials say there was a strong natural gas odor in the area when they arrived at the scene. Central Hudson was also called to the scene to help further investigate.

According to officials, they ended up finding gas bubbling out of the ground.

Due to the nature of the leak, numerous other fire departments were requested to the scene.

No one was injured in the incident.
