Bids submitted for Newburgh-Beacon Bridge project
Today the New York State Bridge Authority will be one step closer to beginning a project to put a new deck on part of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.
Ten bids were submitted for the project, ranging from $93 million to $116 million. Throughout the last week, Bridge Authority engineers conducted a review of the low bid. Today, a final determination to award the project is expected to be considered by the authority's board.
More than 25 million drivers cross the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge each year. The project is expected to generate about 200 jobs, with construction starting in the spring.
