ULSTER COUNTY AND SULLIVAN COUNTY, N.Y. -- Three weeks after Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the SAFE Act into law, the fight for second amendment rights continues across the state. It's no different in Ulster County.

At Tuesday's public safety committee meeting, a resolution will be introduced to oppose Cuomo's SAFE Act. The resolution opposes both the way in which the law was enacted and several provisions within it.

People in Ulster County have been active in rallying for their second amendment rights.
Just two weeks ago, hundreds of gun activists from across the county came together in Accord to protest the new law.

The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at the Ulster County Community College.

A similar resolution has been drafted in the Sullivan County town of Thompson. The town board also opposes the SAFE Act and, is calling for full protection of second amendment rights.

They are calling for less intrusive gun control measures, including anti-bullying reform and mental health reforms.
