TROY, N.Y. -- "I know there is anxiety in the community about crime and are mission is to resolve whatever issues exist."

Just hours after a non violence march, Troy Mayor Lou Rosamilia delivered his State of the City Address. Cutting down on violence was a central topic.

Just last month, Rosamilia selected Anthony Magnetto for the newly created police commissioner position. He says in 2012, there were 37 fewer violent crimes than there were in 2011. Still, Rosamilia says the numbers don't tell entire story.

“It's important to look at what then numbers are telling us. But as a mayor, I recognize it's far more important to listen to what our residents tell us and address the concerns they feel within their neighborhoods,” Rosamilia said.

Rosamilia hopes that newly formed police review committees will offer insight that helps improve city police investigations.
