HUDSON VALLEY, N.Y. -- Metro-North Railroad has suspended its service to reduce the likelihood of stranding trains and to begin snow clearing operations.

Train service on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines is suspended until further notice.

Because of the MTA schedule changes, commuters were encouraged to get to their destinations early.
Commuters at the Beacon Train Station were racing to get home before the snow arrived.

"I don't even know if all the services are going to be running, like rails, subways. I didn't want to drive in it, that's for sure," said a commuter, Renard Gubs.

The Long Island Rail Road is monitoring snow conditions in its territory and service suspensions remain possible.

Some branch line service suspensions remain possible if snow reaches between 10-13 inches.

In addition to MTA, Amtrak is also adjusting its service this weekend.

Due to high winds and heavy snowfall, Amtrak is reducing service between New York and Boston on Saturday. There will also be limited service to and from New York's Penn Station.

Amtrak crews will continue to monitor the progress of the storm and will work to restore full service as quickly as possible.

Passengers who have paid but choose not to travel due to this service disruption, can receive a refund or a voucher for future travel.

Ulster County Area Transit is suspending all bus service as of Friday night at 5 p.m. There will be no service on the Z Route, which runs from and to Kingston, Woodstock, Pine Hill, and Belleayre on Saturday.

Regular Saturday service for all other routes will resume at noon on Saturday.
