POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The slippery road conditions are to blame for a fatal accident in the town of Poughkeepsie.

Muril Hancock, 74, of Poughkeepsie was walking on the shoulder of East Cedar Street when he was hit by a car. He was taken to Saint Francis Hospital where he died.

Police say an 18-year-old woman from Fishkill was behind the wheel, and lost control on the wet roads.

Police are still investigating the accident, and they are asking anyone with information to call them at (845)-485-3680.
