BUCHANAN, N.Y. -- Reactor Unit 2 at the Indian Point Nuclear Plant has been temporarily shut down after two water pumps stopped working.
A spokesperson for the plant says workers in the plant were testing a valve associated with the pumps when they stopped working.
The pumps are located on the non-nuclear side of the plant and officials say that there was no threat of radioactivity being released and no threat to the safety of the employees and the public.
Reactor Unit 3 is operating at full power and Unit 2 is expected to be back up to full power by the weekend.
