Knicks and Nets on break for All Star weekend
NEW YORK -- It's All Star weekend in the NBA which means we've hit the half way point in the basketball season.
As it stands, the two teams from New York are atop the Atlantic Division. The Knicks have a record of 32-18 while Brooklyn is 31-22 on the season so far.
Breaking it down by conference, the Knicks are four games behind the first place Miami Heat. The Nets are in fourth place behind Miami, New York, and Indiana.
For the All Star game, New York is well represented. Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler will be playing for the Knicks while Brooklyn's Brook Lopez will be coming off the bench. The game is scheduled for 7:00pm on Sunday.
The break comes at a good time for the Knicks who are currently riding a two game losing streak. The Nets probably wanted to ride out their good fortune a little longer, since they won their last two games.
In the first year of this new instate rivalry, both teams broke even on the schedule. They're both 2-2 against each other with no other games scheduled for the regular season. The last meeting ended in an 88-85 win for Brooklyn.
The Nets will be back in action on Tuesday at 7:30pm against Milwaukee. Meanwhile the Knicks will travel to Indiana on Wednesday for a 7:00pm matchup.
