Newburgh man pleads guilty to killing girlfriend
ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Newburgh man has pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter in Orange County Court after he admitted to beating his 20-year old girlfriend to death back in July, according to Orange County District Attorney Neal Haberman.
Haberman says Yannick Evina-Ze, 31, killed Alexis Harris at his home in Newburgh sometime around midnight between July 20 and 21.
Officers were called to Evina-Ze's house for a welfare check and inside, they found Harris' body after what appeared to be a physical altercation.
Haberman says he could face at least 22 years in prison.
Evina-Ze is scheduled to be sentenced April 4th.
