MINISINK, N.Y. -- As fracking and environmental concerns remain in the spotlight,
one Hudson Valley community is protesting a natural gas compressor station.
Natural gas company Millenium Pipeline plans to construct the station in a residential and agriculture zoning area in Minisink.
Hundreds of community members are expected to attend a rally on Saturday, calling on the company to select a more remote location.
The United States Court of Appeals is currently reviewing a petition that challenges Millienium Pipeline's plan to build the compressor. Commissioners of the Federal Energy Regulatory have already backed those in Minisink, and are also pushing for a safer location.
Saturday's protest begins at 12:30 p.m. at the construction site on Jacobs Road.
