NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- Newburgh is hosting its second gun buyback event as part of the county-wide amnesty program announced last month by Orange County Executive Ed Diana.
Anyone dropping off a gun at Saturday's event will receive a gift card to Shop Rite for up to 150 dollars depending on the weapon.
The buyback is at the House of Refuge on Broadway and is meant to reduce the fear of charges by hosting the event at a neutral location.
Since the program kicked off in January, police have collected more than 80 guns.
The county-wide program runs through March 18th and guns can be dropped off any time at the City of Newburgh Police Department. Saturday's event runs through 4 p.m.
